About Shivam
Hi! I’m Shivam, though I go by Om. I’m currently studying Physics at Oxford University, with aspirations to pursue a PhD in theoretical physics. Over the past three years, I’ve worked as a tutor through Tutors.com, and my passion for teaching began even earlier—back in high school, where I mentored middle and elementary school robotics teams while serving as president of my own. That’s when I first discovered how rewarding it is to share what I love with others. I found that same joy again in mathematics, a subject I fell in love with in 6th grade thanks to an incredibly passionate teacher. By 8th grade, I was taking AP Calculus BC at a local high school and earned a score of 5. I later dual-enrolled at Washtenaw Community College, taking courses like Multivariable Calculus, Differential Equations, and Linear Algebra. These experiences solidified both my understanding of math and my appreciation for the impact a great teacher can have. Whether I’m working with middle schoolers or high school students, nothing compares to the moment when a concept finally clicks. My goal as a tutor is to help students not just succeed in math, but to see it as something that can be clear, approachable, and even enjoyable. One student at a time, I hope to break the stereotype that math is incomprehensible—and instead, show that with the right approach, anyone can understand it.

The first lesson will always be free to ensure compatibility between the student and me. Now, diving into my teaching style: I was fortunate to have teachers who focused on building deep, intuitive understanding—an approach I carry into my own tutoring. Rather than overwhelming students with formulas, I aim to help them grasp the core concepts and build a strong foundation in subjects like algebra, geometry, and calculus. I’m a highly visual learner myself, so I often incorporate diagrams, graphs, and analogies into my explanations. At the same time, I adapt my teaching style to suit each student’s needs—because effective learning is never one-size-fits-all.
