About Mia
My passion for piano developed through years of performing, studying music, and helping others discover their musical abilities. This journey led me to complete a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance, a Master of Music in Keyboard Studies, and a PhD in Piano Pedagogy. During my 13 years of teaching experience, I have worked with learners of many different ages and backgrounds, helping them build confidence through personalized instruction. Teaching piano allows me to combine artistic expression with educational guidance.
A large part of my work focuses on collaborative music-making and performance development. I enjoy teaching duets, small ensembles, and accompaniment skills that help students become versatile musicians. Many learners have gone on to perform at community concerts, school events, and local music festivals. These experiences help students develop confidence, teamwork, and stronger musical awareness. I believe performance opportunities are valuable tools for both personal and artistic growth.
Outside teaching, I continue studying piano literature, arranging music, and exploring new educational approaches. These interests allow me to bring fresh ideas into every lesson. Watching students transform their skills and confidence over time remains one of the most rewarding parts of my profession. I look forward to helping learners achieve meaningful musical growth and lasting enjoyment through piano.

My piano lessons are built around helping students become confident and fluent musicians from their very first session. I focus on developing finger independence, reading fluency, rhythm coordination, keyboard awareness, dynamic control, sight-reading ability, and duet performance skills through practical and engaging activities. Students learn how different musical elements connect together to create expressive and confident playing. Rather than simply repeating exercises, learners are encouraged to understand the purpose behind every skill they develop. This creates stronger musical understanding and more enjoyable progress.
Each lesson is carefully adapted to the student's experience level and personal goals. Beginners build a foundation through note recognition, rhythm exercises, hand coordination, and simple repertoire. Intermediate students strengthen musical interpretation, chord knowledge, accompaniment patterns, and technical control. Advanced learners focus on expressive phrasing, stylistic awareness, performance preparation, and artistic confidence. Students who enjoy collaborative music receive guidance in ensemble playing, while those interested in solo performance develop strong independence. Consistent feedback ensures meaningful and steady growth.
I believe piano learning should be inspiring, practical, and rewarding. My lessons encourage students to become confident musicians who understand and enjoy the music they perform. As learners progress, they often develop stronger creativity, discipline, and self-expression. My goal is to help every student build lasting musical skills while developing a genuine love for piano.
