Hi!
I am a professional piano tutor, and a free lance composer based in Bermondsey. I teach one on one piano tuition, music theory tuition and composition classes from my beautiful boat on the thames, or I can travel to all areas.
I can help you achieve the ABRSM/Trinity grades, or I can just help you to develop your understanding of music on your own terms. I offer a fun, unique and dynamic approach to music, and have experience in teaching all ages and abilities.
I have been teaching music for nearly ten years now, starting out with a project called Impulse, where I toured school in Hertfordshire teaching kids the fundamentals of music in workshops.
My students have a 100% success rate with the ABRSM graded syllabus, and I can also teach the Trinity Laban exams.
I teach, technique, scales and arpeggios and studies, with sight reading and then finally I have a wide repertoire to pick from, and some interesting pieces which I am sure we can have a lot of fun with!
I was awarded distinction in grade 8 piano, aged 12 and went on to receive a scholarship to study at the Purcell School of Music, where my focus was in composition, with Dai Fujikura, and Piano, with Ching Ching Lim. My music has been performed in the Wigmore Hall by the NASH ensemble, and in the Cadogan Hall by Ian Brown.
I was recognised in the highly commended category of the BBC Young Composer of the Year competition, 2007, and also won the first prize of the EPTA piano competition. Recently I performed piano for Nils Frahm's second release of sheet music, 'Zwei', and my music was performed at the Outsider Art Fair in New York this year.
I have been through a rigorous musical education, and this has helped me to develop a varied and effective teaching method, across all musical subjects.
