Hi, I'm Toby and originally come from the musical land of Wales!
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach singing, piano, classical guitar (up to Grade 5 level), music theory, & GCSE/ A level music. I enter students for graded exams with the ABRSM and Trinity Guildhall including grade 5 theory.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I hold a BMus (Hons) in music from Cardiff University, MMus in singing from Guildhall school of Music and Drama & PGCE in secondary music from Cardiff Metropolitan University (formally UWIC)
- How much do you charge?
I charge £35 for an hour's tuition of Singing, Piano or Guitar, £35 an hour for music theory, £40 an hour for GCSE music and £50 an hour for A level music tuition. I can provide 30 minute instrumental/vocal lessons for £20.
I can travel to you if it is more convenient for no extra charge.
- Where do you teach?
I teach from my home in Charlton but am happy to travel within a five mile radius.
- When are you available?
I am available Monday-Tuesday all day/eve and on weekends.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach all ages and ability levels.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
Graded exams, theory exams and GCSE/A level music exams.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I don't offer online tuition.
- What kind of experience do you have?
I studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and enjoy a varied career as a professional singer, pianist and teacher.
I have had the pleasure of teaching a wide range of ages and abilities all the way from primary school to higher education. I am currently on the singing faculty at Bird College Conservatoire for Dance & Musical Theatre where I teach degree and diploma level students and also at Bishop's Stortford College where my work with students ranges from 10-18 years of age and is focused on ABRSM & Trinity graded exams.
My continued experience and passion for music informs my teaching and as a qualified teacher I am dedicated to helping people discover and develop the joy of music making. Students of all ages and abilities are welcome. Lessons are structured to suit the needs of each individual and so whether learning to progress through music grades or simply for enjoyment, all pathways are happily catered for.

- Where and with whom did you train?
I trained in Cardiff with Italian tenor Osvaldo Valente, at Cardiff University, and with Scott Johnson at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. I have also worked with some of the world's best singers, musicians and conductors.
