About Gordon
Described by Ruth Gerald as “a very sensitive pianist who has something unique to say” after winning the Steinway Hall Recital Prize and performing at the Kent International Piano Course, Gordon is currently pursuing his undergraduate studies at the Royal College of Music under the guidance of John Byrne. He has also had the privilege of working with distinguished pianists, including Stephen Kovacevich, Roberto Prosseda, Noriko Ogawa, Roland Kruger, Lora Dimitrova, and Sofya Gulyak. His teaching lineage traces directly back to Ludwig van Beethoven, Joseph Haydn, Franz Liszt, Nikolai Rubinstein, and Artur Schnabel, placing him within one of the most influential traditions of European pianism.
A dedicated soloist, Gordon has performed widely in the UK and abroad, with notable engagements at the Concert Hall at Hong Kong City Hall, Trinity College Chapel at the University of Cambridge as part of the International Cambridge Piano Festival, Didžioji salė Druskininkų in Lithuania, and the Academy of Art in Szczecin, Poland.
Recent achievements include winning 1st Prize at the “Muzika be sienų” International Piano Competition 2025, which also awarded him a recital engagement in Denmark. Additionally, he has been awarded the Alexander Kelly Concerto Prize, leading to an upcoming performance of Rachmaninoff’s Second Piano Concerto with the Southampton Concert Orchestra, as well as the Lander Keyboard Prize and several awards at festivals across the UK. As an orchestral pianist with the City of Birmingham Youth Symphony Orchestra, Gordon has performed in major venues such as Birmingham Symphony Hall.
Equally passionate about chamber music, Gordon particularly enjoys working in piano trios and violin sonatas. Before beginning his undergraduate studies, he studied privately with Jakob Fichert and Jan Loeffler while attending the Junior Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.

My students have enjoyed a wide range of recent successes, including ABRSM Grade 8 distinctions and merits, achieving full marks in the performance component of Music A-Level (A*), and winning multiple prizes at local music festivals. Several are now preparing for advanced performance diplomas such as the ARSM, ATCL, and LTCL (RQF Level 4 & 6)
I draw on influences from several schools of piano playing and have developed an analytical teaching style that encourages students to listen carefully and think critically about their own performance. Lessons take place at my house on a grand piano, giving students the valuable opportunity to experience the touch and sound of the kind of instruments used in concerts and examinations. Weekly access to a grand piano also allows them to become familiar with features such as the una corda and sostenuto pedals, which respond differently from those on upright pianos.

Perfect! Gordon is a very good teacher, very knowledgeable and answers all my questions with answers that are easy to understand and remember. Very calm and relaxed teaching style with no pressure to play things perfectly straight away.I already had a bit of knowledge of piano before but Gordon recognised the level I was at and immediately started challenging me and improving my playing.
