About Jay
I love teaching, but my four years working as a full-time project-based learning teacher forced me to relegate my NatGeo Explorer work to nights and the summer break. I'm here to strike a new balance: where I can actively develop my project work AND teach part-time.
Also, when I was a student, I struggled when I didn't see the application of what I was learning. I wasn't bored, I was too excited to dive deep into the other activities that stoked my passions. I want to help others structure their own learning to see this style of learning as a strength, not a weakness.

I've edited podcasts for KQED (the NPR station of San Francisco) and hosted my own podcasts — the first of which was launched in 2009! We can cover the whole production process, including pre-production (like interview booking and prep), production (scriptwriting, equipment, best practices, and apps), and post-production (editing a story, cleaning up audio, and making a professional-sounding episode).
I've edited audio using ProTools, Adobe Audition, and Audacity, but now Audition is my choice app, and I am also happy to teach Audacity.
Like my other courses, this is a project-based course, so when we begin, you will use a project to identify learning goals.
