Students! Improve your English and design your best life with a Positive Psychology Life Coach - Upper Intermediate Only

Methodology

I offer a unique combination - Psychological coaching for students learning English.

I understand your needs as a student; You want to learn English. You want to be taken seriously. You want to enter the world of work with confidence in yourself and a strong focus to succeed. You want to work and live in a second language. This takes strength, determination and grit. I admire you.. I know how difficult it is for International students, having worked with them for so long. and I believe in you and will support you unconditionally.

I want to draw your attention to what is happening below your conscious mind. To help you to take your studies, career and everyday life and happiness to the next level. To get you from 'average' to feeling amazing everyday.

I have specialist training in teaching English as a foreign language and a background in Psychology, including a MSc in Applied Positive Psychology & Coaching Psychology. I am also a qualifed meditation teacher.

I can help you focus on your 'inner game'
Discover your future goals
What do you want to be, how do you want to live?
Is there a habit you want to change or stop?
I can help you overcome fear, stress, anxiety, insomnia, overeating
Are you thinking about making some big changes?
Lets look at your strengths and find out more about what makes you unique

I will facilitate the space you need to explore everything on your mind and help you to gain clarity, define your intentions and create an action plan.

PLEASE NOTE THIS IS NOT ENGLISH LESSONS. This is also not therapy or suitable for clinically depressed people.

This is coaching in English - therefore you will be improving your English in a challenging conversational setting while working on you, on your life and your future.

I normally reccommend four sessions per client as my job as a coach is to make you into your best self and give you the resources you need to continue. However we can be flexible.

Excellent! Jenna is positive, approachable and has an amazing vibe ! She knows a lot on her field and is genuinely willing to help. I will definitely plan further sessions with her.

Jenna's response

Really lovely person, it was so nice to meet and work with Gamze. She was self motivated and I look forward to coaching her again!

Baptiste

Excellent! Jenna is always positive. I called her because I had to improve my English and my mark in IELTS exam. Thanks to her I got a better mark than the first time. Moreover, she gave me some homework and she took the time to correct my faults.
To conclude, I recommend Jenna who is both friendly and serious.

Jenna's response

Really easy to get alone with Baptsiste - he is friendly and interesting and really keen to learn English. I really enjoy teaching him and helping him practise speaking for his IELTS exam

M
Marie

Perfect! Jenna est est un très bon professeur en plus d'être une personne très sympathique : elle a à coeur de bien préparer chaque séance et fait en sorte de faire assimiler à son élève les nouvelles structures en les utilisant de manière originale.

Jenna's response

Marie is a very good student, she is eager to learn, very friendly and always on time. Her English is already at a high standard so it's fun to find new material and lesser known vocabulary to teach her. She's interested and open to a variety of topics so our lessons can be diverse.

I worked closely with Jenna for nearly three years. From that time I saw that her commitment to students learning and well-being was very important to her. She is extremely knowledgeable and friendly which makes her particularly approachable. When I worked with Jenna, she was very much liked by all staff and students.

Amy

I worked with Jenna for about 3 years during our time at ELC Brighton. Jenna has a fantastic repertoire with students. She is approachable, friendly and professional.

I would offer Jenna a job at ELC without a moments hesitation. Her natural intelligence, warm friendly personality and supportive manner with students makes it clear to me that she will be an excellent teacher

Interview with Jenna

QUESTION 01 | 08
Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?
Jenna — Because of my origins. I was born and raised in England to English parents in the South West of England, however, my accent is more of a London accent - very clear to understand for students!
QUESTION 02 | 08
Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?
Jenna — JK Rowling's Harry Potter. What a world she has created using English! And a whole range of new, magical, fictional words! Good luck to anyone reading those books!
QUESTION 03 | 08
Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behaviour in the language that you particularly like?
Jenna — I really like Cockney rhyming slang. For example saying, "Are you having a bubble?" to mean "Are you having a laugh" as laugh rhymes with bath and bubble is short for bubble bath! Sounds complicated but they can be fun to work out!
QUESTION 04 | 08
Why does speaking this language matter to you?
Jenna — I am proud of my wide vocabulary and ability to articulate as it enables you more freedom over what you are wanting to express. Language is the way we paint our pictures of the world. Our experience of life is so subjective and by having access to more language simply gives us bigger lives.
QUESTION 05 | 08
What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?
Jenna — There are so many words and it's everchanging. I always tell my students to read. Read everything and anything. Adverts, newspapers, magazines, children's books, novels, tv programmes with subtitles. Because then you will be exposed to a wider array of different lexises (A word in all its various relationships with other words) and it will help grow your passive vocabulary (vocab you didn't realise you knew until it comes out!)
QUESTION 06 | 08
Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.
Jenna — I just remember copying grammar off the overhead projector and really appreciating the teacher using different colours to outline the different parts of speech. I really liked my French teachers. I only learnt French and a little Spanish in school but I really liked learning French and I got an A! I think this was down to liking the teacher so much.
QUESTION 07 | 08
How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?
Jenna — I have spent 3 months in South America, lived in San Sebastian in the Basque country in Northern Spain for 3 months and also spent a month in Mexico which means I have had a lot of exposure to Spanish so I feel I can pronounce words well. I never took any Spanish lessons though and I should have done as it would have really helped me. Sometimes total immersion is not enough! Languages are difficult!
QUESTION 08 | 08
What makes you a Superprof in language?
Jenna — I absolutely love English and I am good at it. I received two As at GCSE for English Language and English Literature. I have written many rhymes and poems and also kept various travel blogs and other blogs. I have written for magazines and I have worked with so many students over the last ten years that I really understand how to grade my language to communicate with students in a way they understand - challenging them yet not letting them feel stressed. Also as I am studying for my Master's in Psychology, I regularly read and write academic papers which contain some of the most inaccessible jargon ever! So I feel that keeps me on my toes!
