About Sergio
I'm a musician and teacher from Puerto Rico, with a lifelong passion for exploring and sharing music. My musical journey began with the Puerto Rican cuatro, our national instrument, and the folkloric music of the island. This foundation led me to Berklee, where my exploration of music expanded as a musician, teacher, and lifelong student of the art.
My philosophy is simple: the more you understand music, the more you can love and appreciate it. Teaching allows me to share that love, helping students explore music with curiosity and confidence. I teach with patience, encouragement, and attention to each student's goals, and I take joy in seeing them gain independence, comfort, and confidence with music theory.

I offer practical, applied music theory lessons for singers, guitarists, drummers, and musicians of all levels. My goal is to help students understand how music works, so theory becomes a clear, usable musical tool rather than something abstract or intimidating.
My teaching approach is hands-on and concept-driven. I use piano and guitar as reference instruments, along with listening, clapping, and singing, to connect theory directly to sound and musical experience. The emphasis is on context, clarity, and application, not memorizing rules in isolation.
Lessons are always tailored to your goals. A typical lesson includes a brief review, the introduction of new concepts, guided application to your instrument or voice, and clear practice strategies you can immediately use.
As a Berklee College of Music graduate and former Core Music Tutor at Berklee, I bring a structured yet flexible approach shaped by years of working with motivated music students. My lessons are supportive, focused, and designed to build confidence, independence, and deeper musical understanding.
