About Dominique

At my core, I'm a curious, patient, and genuinely passionate educator who believes everyone has creative potential waiting to be unlocked.

Creativity doesn't stop when lessons end! A Glimpse Into My World:

Outside the classroom, I'm an avid skateboarder, which keeps me playful, persistent, and unafraid of a few falls along the way. I'm also passionate about culinary arts, treating the kitchen as another canvas for experimentation and craft.

I'm also a DJ, mixing tracks and curating sounds, an experience that deepens my understanding of rhythm, flow, and creative curation. And as a lash technician, I bring precision and detail-oriented craftsmanship into my beauty practice, reminding me that mastery lives in the small details.

When I'm not skating, cooking, spinning decks, or working with clients, I'm often immersed in my own studio practice. Painting, illustrating, crafting clothing and jewellery, or planning exhibitions.

These passions shape who I am as a teacher: they remind me that creativity lives everywhere, that mastery takes patience and repetition, and that joy is essential to learning. I bring that same energy and balance into every session with you.

What You'll Feel With Me

You won't just learn techniques; you'll feel supported, challenged, and inspired. I combine professional rigour with warmth, making sure you leave each lesson feeling capable and confident in your own creative voice.

Let's grow together through art.

My methodology bridges creative practice, pedagogy, and learner psychology. What sets me apart is that I don't just teach technique. I help students understand why they create, fostering conceptual thinking alongside practical skill. I integrate theory and practice seamlessly, so students develop visual literacy, critical thinking, and technical ability in equal measure. I strongly believe in inclusive education. Every student learns differently, and I tailor my lessons to individual needs, learning styles, and goals, whether that's mastering exam content, building a portfolio, or exploring art for personal fulfilment. I am proficient and able to teach in English and Afrikaans. What to Expect in a Typical Lesson: Lessons are structured yet flexible. A session typically begins with a brief discussion of objectives and progress, followed by guided practical work. This could involve painting, drawing, or digital illustration in Procreate, depending on your focus. Where relevant, I weave in art history, visual literacy, and conceptual development to give depth to the practical work. Students receive constructive feedback throughout, with clear takeaways for independent practice between sessions. Who My Lessons Are For: My lessons are aimed at all ages and learning needs, from young children discovering art for the first time to adults pursuing creative growth. Specifically, I welcome:

Young learners exploring creativity and foundational art skills
School learners following CAPS, IEB, or Cambridge curricula (Grade 8–12)
Students preparing portfolios for tertiary admission or examinations
Tertiary-level students seeking support in fine arts, design, or art theory
Adult learners and hobbyists looking to develop creative skills or explore new mediums
Aspiring artists wanting guidance on professional practice, exhibition preparation, and curatorship
