About Joseph

I’m Joseph, a professional pianist and music teacher with ten years of teaching experience.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance and completed a master’s degree with a scholarship at the Conservatori del Liceu in Barcelona. My teachers have included Josep Colom, José Enrique Bagaría and Stanislav Pochekin.

My performing experience includes prizes in national and international competitions, solo and chamber music concerts, and collaborations with composers on premieres of new works.

I have taught students of different ages and levels both privately and in private music schools. Most of my teaching experience has developed through the piano, where I have also regularly taught musicianship, music theory, harmony and analysis as tools for understanding music more deeply.

My teaching combines this musical background with a friendly, patient and personalised approach. I adapt the pace and materials to each student’s goals, and lessons are available in English or Spanish.

I can help you prepare for your ABRSM Music Theory exam, strengthen your conservatoire theory skills or approach an entrance examination with a clear plan tailored to your current level.

I also work with pianists and other instrumentalists who want to understand the harmony, analysis and structure of the music they perform more deeply.

We can focus on three main areas:

• ABRSM Music Theory preparation: clear explanations, guided exercises, detailed feedback, sample papers and strategies for answering confidently.
• Conservatoire entrance examinations: preparation based on the official syllabus, targeted work on weaker areas and practice in theory, harmony, analysis, rhythm, reading or aural skills according to each institution’s requirements.
• General and applied music theory: musicianship, harmony, analysis, form, aural understanding and connections with the repertoire you study or perform.

Lessons are individual and online, in English or Spanish. I use screen sharing, a digital whiteboard, scores, exercises, piano and audio whenever they are useful.

My aim is to help you move beyond memorising rules: you will understand the concepts, learn to reason through your answers and apply them to exercises, examinations and real music. After each lesson, you will know clearly what to practise and how to continue.
