About Ryan
I’m a primary school teacher with 16 years’ classroom experience, a PhD in Positive School Experiences and currently undertaking doctoral training in Educational Psychology. I work with children of all abilities, using an inclusive, well-being and neurodiversity-aware approach that helps every child feel understood and supported. As a parent myself, I understand how important it is for children to feel confident, calm and happy in their learning. My lessons are patient, encouraging and carefully tailored to each child’s needs — whether they need support with literacy or numeracy, a confidence boost, or a calmer approach to learning. I’m passionate about helping children believe in themselves, enjoy learning and supporting them make steady progress at their own pace. I bring warmth, understanding and enthusiasm to every session, creating a safe space where children feel comfortable to try, make mistakes, and succeed.

I deliver engaging, child-centred lessons in science, reading, phonics, literacy, maths, numeracy and the wider curriculum. Lessons are calm, supportive and carefully tailored to each child. I have built up experience in my psychological training of understanding neurodiversity and applying wellbeing strategies to support learning and thriving in the school environment.
My training in Educational Psychology and my PhD in Positive School Experiences inform a neurodiversity-affirming, wellbeing-focused approach, helping pupils build confidence, close learning gaps, strengthen core skills and make clear, measurable progress in school.

Brilliant tutor! Had a free consultation and followed up on everything we needed in the lessons. Our daughter loved the lessons and looked forward to them every week. I can safely say it made her way more confident in school and that she has never looked back. Recommend fully and we will continue to use his services. Thanks a million Ryan!
Ryan provided excellent support with my undergraduate dissertation, helping me develop my ideas, improve structure, and better understand academic expectations. His feedback was ethical, supportive and focused on helping me improve my own work. His experience as a teacher, along with his PhD and published research, was clearly evident in the clarity of his explanations and guidance. I felt more confident in my writing and approach, and my final submission benefited greatly from his support.
We couldn’t be happier with the support our child has received. His experience really shows in the way he connects with children and understands what they need to feel calm and confident. Lessons are well planned but always flexible, and our child feels genuinely supported rather than pressured. We’ve seen clear progress in reading and maths, but just as importantly, a big improvement in confidence and attitude towards school. As parents, we felt reassured every step of the way and would highly recommend him.
Ryan is an exceptionally experienced and thoughtful tutor. Lessons are calm, encouraging and carefully adapted, which has made a real difference to my son’s confidence and motivation in school. Ryan's understanding of how children learn and how they feel about learning, really stands out. We’ve seen steady progress at school and a much happier, more confident child overall. We would happily recommend him to any family that are looking for a bit of support.
