About Charlie
Having undergone a rigorous conservatoire training at The Oxford School of Drama, I have a wealth of experience working with other actors analysing performance in order to bring out the very best of their work. I am also a current member of The National Youth Theatre, and have been involved in a number of projects with them.
Prior to attending Drama School I attended Abingdon School in Oxfordshire. 4 A2's English Literature (A), History (A*), French (A), Theatre Studies (A*). 10 GCSE's (6 A*'s, 4 A's).

My teaching method is an individual approach, catered entirely to the needs of the actor I am working with. I draw from a number of practitioners, including Stanislavsi, Uta Hagen, Stanford Meisner, Le Coq, Laban, John Barton. It is an ongoing conversation as we explore what works artistically and creatively for you. The skills and tools I can provide will serve to deepen your understanding of how the craft of acting best works for you.
I believe acting is at it's most free and exciting when your attention is focused on whoever you are playing with and, crucially, off yourself. In this way, I will work with you to develop techniques and tools in which to accomplish this. This may be particularly powerful if you often find yourself self-aware and feeling 'stuck' in your acting.
I am fascinated by the individuality of actors. I believe, and have found, that the tools that each actor will employ to enable their best performances are entirely distinct to what that particular actor finds creatively inspiring. Together we can explore these tools and discover what works best for you, ranging from classical Stanislavskian methods to more creative abstract work.
I suggest that we should begin with some basic monologue work and some discussion of your current impression of yourself as an actor and artist and from there we can begin to develop, deepen and diversify your understanding of the craft of acting and where you fit within it.
