About John
Acting has been my passion since the age of 12, ignited by a memorable classroom performance where a friend and I portrayed an elderly couple in a humorous skit. This early experience of bringing characters to life and entertaining others solidified my desire to pursue drama. Even before that, I found joy in creating puppet shows and mimicking voices from television programmes, delighting my family with these early performances. My formal journey began with the Woking Drama Workshop and continued with the Woking Youth Theatre, where I immersed myself in productions like West Side Story, Oklahoma!, and Les Misérables. These formative experiences led me to further my studies at Brooklands College (attended by Martin Freeman / The Hobbit), where I pursued a BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts. Eager to deepen my craft, I advanced to full-time drama school, earning a BA (Hons) in Acting from Bretton Hall College, affiliated with the University of Leeds. At 18, I was honoured to be invited to teach at the Woking Drama Workshop. This opportunity revealed a new dimension of my passion: guiding others in their artistic journeys. Over the years, my dedication to both acting and teaching has only intensified. I firmly believe in the transformative power of storytelling and view acting as a holistic tool for understanding ourselves and the world around us. As Lee Strasberg aptly stated, “Acting is the most personal of our crafts.” Beyond the stage and classroom, I’ve embarked on personal journeys that have enriched my perspective. Travelling to India, I lived in ashrams and temples, delving into spiritual practices that have profoundly influenced my approach to acting. This blend of spiritual exploration and artistic endeavour has reinforced my belief in the power of drama to inspire change and foster personal growth. Currently, I am an active member of the acting community, represented on the Spotlight directory, a member of Equity and working with an agent to secure roles in theatre, television, and film. This ongoing industry involvement ensures that my teaching remains relevant and informed by current practices. My commitment to professionalism is unwavering. I strive to create a supportive and inspiring environment for my students, sharing firsthand experiences and insights gained from years of dedication to the craft. Whether you’re new to acting or seeking to refine your skills, I am here to guide you on your artistic journey with passion, expertise, and a deep respect for the transformative power of drama.

Techniques & Teaching Methodology My approach to acting training draws from a diverse range of methodologies, blending classic and contemporary techniques to provide actors with a well-rounded and adaptable skill set. Influences include: • Meisner Technique – Repetition exercises to cultivate instinctive, truthful reactions. • Stanislavski’s System – Essential questions, given circumstances, and text analysis. • Lee Strasberg’s Method Acting – Emotional memory and deep character immersion. • Stella Adler’s Imagination Work – The “As If” model and creative exploration. • Laban Movement Analysis – Understanding physical expression and body language. • Yat Malmgren’s Character Analysis – Psychological and movement-based character development. • Declan Donnellan’s Actioning the Text – Breaking down scripts for clarity and impact. • Practical Screen & Stage Techniques – Self-tape skills, on-camera presence, and live performance techniques. • LAMDA Syllabus & Audition Prep – Training for drama school entry, professional auditions, and industry readiness. I also help actors to achieve their placement on the Spotlight directory, which is usually only achievable through full-time drama school, or through the achievement of industry work such as Film, TV, Stage. Spotlight is an exclusive acting industry casting directory.
