About Rita
Hello! I am a recently graduated cellist, excited to be starting my professional life. I moved to London from Portugal to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2018. Later, in 2021, I started commuting to Brussels for a shortened second bachelor degree and a master’s degree. I graduated in June of 2024, very happy with my journey and with everything I learned. Having had the opportunity to study in 3 different countries really shaped the musician and teacher I am today. I have seen many different realities and approaches to both performance and to teaching, which I feel made me develop immensely. I have been teaching since around 2019, and it has always been something I really enjoy doing! I have experience with all levels and have worked with students of all ages and with many different goals and ambitions. I consider myself a calm and encouraging teacher and I always do my best to give very free and creative lessons. I tailor my methods and my approach to the context of the student’s age and goals, as learning is never a “one size fits all” situation. I actively listen to what route my students themselves want to take without jeopardising progress, and try to always combine discipline and a good foundation with creativity and artistic intuition. No matter what your goal is, remember that it is not worth to learn if you don't like or are not excited about the learning process.
