About Maria
My musical background:
I studied at the Royal College of Music in London, completing my Bachelor’s, Master’s and Artist Diploma. I am Principal Second Flute with the Academy of Ancient Music and perform regularly with professional orchestras and chamber ensembles.
Alongside performing, I have over five years of private teaching experience. Being an active performer means I’m constantly discovering new music, working on my own playing and learning from other musicians.

I teach the flute to children and adults, from complete beginners to advanced players. Every student is different, so I like to get to know each person’s interests and goals and find an approach that works for them
- ABRSM exams preparation
- Audition preparation
- Flute lessons for enjoyment
- Ensemble coaching
I want lessons to feel relaxed and encouraging, while still making real progress. I also believe it’s important to develop independence so that practising becomes more productive and playing feels natural
My main focus is the modern flute, but I also specialise in baroque flute and historically informed performance. I’m always happy to explore baroque repertoire and historical instruments with students who are interested in this side of music!
- Lessons at my home in Wimbledon or at the student’s home, depending on location
- 30, 45, 60 or 90-minute lessons
- Teaching in English and Russian

I have known Maria since 2018 and had the pleasure of performing alongside her in various settings. She is an exceptionally talented and dedicated musician. Maria is professional, hardworking, and a pleasure to work with, and I am confident that she would bring the same dedication and enthusiasm to her own teaching. I would highly recommend her as a flute teacher!
Maria is a wonderful teacher! She worked with us for three years and I couldn’t be more grateful. Alina (my daughter) really enjoyed her flute lessons with Maria and made significant progress. She also loved playing duets with Maria, because playing alongside a world-class musician is a real treat!
