About Italo Nobuyuki

Hi! I’m Yuki, a professional guitarist, performer and guitar teacher based in London.

Music has been a central part of my life for as long as I can remember. I’ve been performing professionally for over 15 years and continue to perform regularly, both as a solo guitarist and with several professional function bands, covering styles such as jazz, blues, rock, pop, soul and contemporary music.

I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz Guitar from the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia in Rome and a Master of Music (MMus) in Popular Music Performance from the University of East London.

I’ve been teaching guitar professionally since 2018 with Your Guitar Academy, and for the past four years I’ve also taught at East London Arts & Music (ELAM).

What I love most about teaching is sharing my passion for music and helping others experience the satisfaction of understanding and playing an instrument.

I particularly enjoy those moments when something that initially seemed complicated suddenly makes sense to a student, whether it’s their first chord, a new improvisational idea or a deeper understanding of harmony.

I believe music should be enjoyable, creative and rewarding, regardless of your level or ambitions. My goal is not simply to teach you how to play songs, but to help you develop the knowledge, confidence and independence to express yourself through music.

Being an active performer also allows me to bring real-world musical experience into my lessons, connecting what students learn with the practical skills needed to play and communicate with other musicians.

I’m constantly learning and developing as a musician myself, and I love bringing that curiosity and enthusiasm into every lesson.

Whether you’re picking up a guitar for the first time or looking to take your playing further, I’d be delighted to help you achieve your musical goals.

My lessons are designed around each student’s musical interests, experience and individual goals. Whether you’re a complete beginner or an advanced guitarist looking to refine your technique, improvisation or harmonic knowledge, I provide structured, engaging and personalised tuition.

For beginners, I focus on building confidence through simple two-finger chords, strumming patterns and familiar songs, allowing students to start making music straight away.

As students progress, we explore intervals, chord construction, major and minor keys, scales, arpeggios and the CAGED system, developing a deeper understanding of harmony and the guitar fretboard.

For intermediate and advanced players, lessons can cover jazz and blues improvisation, modal harmony, chord substitutions, chromatic approaches, chord melody, phrasing, rhythm and advanced guitar techniques.

My approach combines music theory with practical application, ensuring that students understand not only what they’re playing, but also why it works and how to use it creatively.

Lessons are typically 60 minutes long and are suitable for teenagers and adults, from beginners to experienced musicians.

I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz Guitar and a Master of Music (MMus) in Popular Music Performance. I’ve been teaching professionally since 2018 and currently work with Your Guitar Academy and East London Arts & Music (ELAM).

My ultimate goal is to help students become confident, expressive and independent musicians who genuinely enjoy playing the guitar.
