About Reuben
I'm an experienced professional musician and teacher based in South Birmingham. I primarily teach Ukulele, Drum Kit and Percussion to all ages and abilities. I currently teach at Sandwell College, Kids Like Danny (a group for adults with additional special needs) and as a private educator. I have previously taught at Shropshire Music Service, the Young Composers Project, and the Act 2 Cam film camp.
I have a vast range of experiences as a professional musician, including running the highly regarded function band The Newfangled Jesters, leading community music group the Moseley Misfits and have previously been a percussionist with the National Youth Wind Orchestra and led Birmingham-based Ska Band “The Skemptons”. I completed a degree in music composition at highly regarded Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in 2015.

I cater my teaching style to each individual. No matter what your aims are, whether you are learning for fun, want a jamming partner or are hoping to take graded music exams I can help you.
I like to take an all-encompassing approach to music tuition, combining theory and practical exercises. I find that this equips students with the best tools to start teaching themselves outside of lessons which I consider to be the ultimate goal of music lessons.
I also work with adults and children with special needs. I have experience working with autism, cerebral palsy and dyslexia. Although not required, a brief description of the needs of the student would be appreciated.
