About Phil
My musical journey began at age eight with lunchtime guitar lessons at school, followed by my Dad bringing home a piano, where I spent my time picking out the songs I heard in the car—most notably The Beatles' 'Red Album.' When I eventually moved on to formal ABRSM exams, I found them restrictive; I recall one exam where the page-turner stopped mid-piece because she realised I wasn't even reading the music.
That experience taught me that true musicianship is about feel and intuition, not just ink on a page. My goal is to unlock your ears, helping you bypass the dull bureaucracy of exams to find your own voice. Whether we are exploring piano, the Hammond Organ, guitar, or analogue synths, I share the craft of music-making in a relaxed, practical, and truly professional environment.
