For my GCSE students I create a balance between developing your artistic skills and actively comparing our lessons to the GCSE curriculum. We will cover all of the assessment objectives in a fun yet practical fashion. Producing a learning environment in which you tick all of the criteria boxes, whilst enjoying your time advancing your artistry and accomplishing brilliant artworks.
My approach to the sheer amount of work that GCSE students are expected to provide, is a patient step by step workshop, using the phrase "little and often". I try to the best of my ability, not to allow my students to feel swamped with work - but to provide them with time management skills to help them stay on top of work. I am aware from experience that art GCSE can feel like more work than you originally signed up for, therefore I try to make my lessons as supportive as possible.
For my portraiture students, first and foremost I would want you to feel comfortable and encouraged, therefore I would start in an area where you feel secure and at ease. I usually ask questions about what you would like to achieve from our sessions and what your interests are in, to ensure I plan out a successful route for you to achieve your goals.
At the start I provide students with an in-depth knowledge of drawing and painting skills. Breaking down helpful steps, useful tools and how to implement what you have learnt into your artwork. As our lessons develop I will direct you into an area that suits your strengths and interests to guide you in finding yourself as a professional artist. As I would like our time together to not only be a practical experience but one which will make an imprint in your artistic career and future.
I am a professional portrait artist who specialises in highly detailed graphite drawings and contemporary acrylic paintings. I have been both selling my artwork and doing pet and family portrait commissions for over 5 years. I previously gained full marks in both my art GCSE and practical A Level. I studied Fine Art at Cardiff University for a year before deciding I wanted to develop my art business sooner and begin my artistic career.
I have experience in working both with primary and secondary students providing drama lessons and GCSE art tutoring lessons within my local area. A previous GCSE student of mine gained full marks for their art GCSE and my other students similarly scored highly.
I am a positive and encouraging teacher who enjoys using my passion and experience to help students and those interested in expanding their artistic knowledge and skill set.
My artistic interests have always been with portraiture. In my paintings and drawings I try to display accurate realism and expressionism. My portfolio displays a range of precise analytical drawings and abstract contemporary paintings.
Over the years I have developed a diverse skillset and I would love to share what I have learnt with you!
Maddy is an excellent artist. She listens and takes note of other's aspirations and needs and is very accommodating. She is a calm and patient person and understands people's varying tastes within the art sector. Her artistic skills are broad and diverse and she can work with an extensive range of medium.
Maddy was commissioned to paint several portraits for us and adjusted her style and colour palette to suit our requirements.
Maddy took a commission from me for a portrait a while ago and the care and attention she took in delivering this beautiful artwork on time and on top condition was exemplary. I have no doubt that she will approach tutoring in the same conscientious way. She has well developed people-skills and a vibrance that I’m sure will engage and enthuse her tutees.
Maddy’s artistic flair and attention to detail is second to none. She is able to capture the expressions of her subjects extremely well and is able to provide a lasting legacy and comfort to clients who have lost much loved pets, as well as create wonderful artwork of people and nature, allowing the beneficiary of her work to have a snapshot of a something rare and precious, which she has encapsulated.
Each piece of Maddy’s artwork is undertaken with great care and compassion. I have commissioned several works of art from her and would certainly consider her to be highly skilled at being able to impart and share her knowledge and experience, bringing with her a fresh and unique energy and talent.
