My teaching method is adopted to work for each individual pupil and their backgrounds and aims. Therefore I do not work under one method for all, but I tailor my style and approach based on what level each student is, and what their strengths and weaknesses are. For beginners, I believe in solid foundations for technique, so I will use a mixture of scales and simple exercises to keep the body as relaxed as possible, as well as guiding them through actual music to keep the lessons exciting and stimulating. For more advanced players, I spend a lot of time talking about the music itself, and how to interpret the style and mood for each piece in order to create the most musically-convincing performance of a range of pieces. For all students I am always a friendly and positive presence, and I treat everyone as an equal to me, so that they can learn by means of discussion and conversation, as well as more conventional techniques. Being a relatively young adult, I remember what it was like growing up and learning, meaning I can relate to problems and frustrations all young children feel sometimes!
I am a young violinist and baroque violinist with a Masters degree in performance from the Royal College of Music. Alongside a busy performance career with leading orchestras and smaller ensembles, I have now been privately teaching adults and children alike for five years, guiding pupils through graded exams (with some exceptionally high results), as well as teaching people who just want to learn a new skill and have some fun.
