About Douglas
While my degree is in composition, my doctoral work was on 12th- and 13th-century music, and my scholarship and teaching encompass history, philosophy, and aesthetics. But I've also run an ensemble in New York for 25 years, and so, for all of the academic credentials, I remain deeply connected to music as a project of making music happen in the world of today.

Most frequently, I teach people preparing applications for graduate school or high schoolers figuring out what (and where) they will study at University. I've placed students at Princeton, Williams, Berklee, and Peabody.
