I teach Deaf children from ages 0-19, supporting them with school work, communication skills and day to day activities.
For children who need the extra support on learning to be safe outdoors on their own, I will take them out on trips from time to time to give them a better sense of what is going on around them. These activities will be based on their choice and be educational to help with their school work.
I have also made personal power points (with videos) for children ages 0-5 years, these are for the visual learning of young children. When teaching children, I like to have the mother and father in my lessons so they can also learn how to communicate with the child together, so they have a better understanding.
Providing 1:1 tuition and mentoring a Deaf student from ages 0-19. Preparing lessons and delivering core subjects, appropriately differentiated to meet the students needs. Developing communication skills, self confidence and support.
I have 3 Children of my own, who are all hearing, so I have had the experience of bringing up children of my own. As well as this I had to teach my children how to communicate, their first language was sign language, I taught them how to lip read and speak English as well.
I have also had the experience with working with children, as I have worked for the National Deaf Children Society. I have worked there for nearly 2 years.
I have been teaching Sign Language for 30 years, and I started working with children 5 years ago.
