About Nicolaas
Hello! My name is Nicolaas, and I am a qualified BEd Senior and FET teacher with six years of professional teaching experience. I have taught History, Social Sciences, Business Studies and Life Orientation, giving me a broad understanding of the challenges learners face in both the classroom and examinations.
I believe that every learner has the ability to improve when they are given the right guidance, encouragement and support. My tutoring style is patient, structured and focused on understanding rather than simply memorising content. I create a relaxed environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and working through areas they find difficult.
I specialise in helping learners strengthen their subject knowledge, improve their written answers and develop effective examination techniques. Whether you are struggling with a particular topic, preparing for an upcoming test or aiming to improve your overall results, I will tailor lessons to your individual needs and goals.
I can teach in both English and Afrikaans and work with learners from Grade 7 to Grade 12. My goal is not only to help students achieve better marks, but also to develop their confidence and independent learning skills.

I am a qualified BEd Senior and FET teacher with 6 years of classroom experience, specialising in History, Social Sciences and Business Studies. My approach to tutoring is patient, structured and focused on helping learners genuinely understand the work rather than simply memorising information.
I adapt every lesson to the individual learner’s needs and learning style. I use clear explanations, practical examples, questioning, discussion and exam-style activities to build both confidence and subject knowledge. I particularly focus on helping learners understand how to answer questions correctly, structure longer answers and improve their examination technique.
A typical lesson begins by identifying areas that the learner finds challenging, followed by a clear explanation of the topic and guided practice. We then work through questions together before allowing the learner to apply what they have learnt independently. I provide constructive feedback throughout the lesson so that learners know exactly where they can improve.
I am proficient in both English and Afrikaans and can teach comfortably in either language.
My lessons are aimed primarily at Grade 7–12 learners studying History, Social Sciences or Business Studies, including learners preparing for tests, examinations, assignments or learners who simply want to improve their overall understanding and marks.
My goal is to create a relaxed but productive learning environment where learners feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and developing the confidence to succeed independently.
