My lessons typically begin with an informal ‘catch up’ chat before moving onto practice, feedback, and follow-up. However, all of my lessons are tailored to help each individual student achieve his/her/their learning goals, so the specific format will depend on what your needs and goals are. Not sure if I can help with the thing you need? Just shoot me a quick message to ask. :) Most of my teaching experience is with adults (age 18 and above) and high school students (15-18), but I am happy to work with young learners as well, particularly those who have already attained an intermediate level of English. I’m also happy to help students achieve specific academic or professional goals, such as writing or editing a personal statement, as long as they are happy for this to be a cooperative and learning-focused process. Some people think fun and learning are two completely separate things, but this could not be further from the truth! I aim to maximise student learning by using modern, research-based teaching methods and making lessons interactive and engaging. While I can’t promise our lessons will always be fun, I will always try to make them as interesting as the subject matter allows. Note: my lessons are NOT lectures! I use a conversational, student-centred approach to give students ample opportunity to practise using their English with my support. I’ve spent time learning foreign languages myself (Chinese and French) so I know it can be challenging and nerve-racking to speak — but don’t worry! I’m very nice, patient and friendly, and I’m not here to judge you — only to help you get better and achieve your goals!
