About Thomas
I am a lawyer and senior officer in the WA Parliament. I have previously been a Policy Adviser and Speechwriter for the Leader of the Opposition in the NT Parliament. My passion is literature and history, and I would like to help students excel in their secondary studies.

Learning Civics, History, and English shouldn’t feel like memorising dates, definitions, or quotes — it should be about discovering stories, ideas, and skills that shape how we see the world and communicate within it. My lessons are designed to make these subjects practical, engaging, and connected to students’ lives.
For Civics, I use real-world examples and interactive activities to show how our democracy and institutions work, and why they matter. In History, I help students explore the big events and movements that shaped societies, while encouraging them to think critically about causes, perspectives, and consequences. In English, I focus on building strong reading, writing, and speaking skills — from analysing texts and crafting essays to expressing ideas with confidence.
Every lesson is interactive, with a mix of explanation, discussion, and practical exercises. Students might debate a current issue, unpack a historical document, or work through an essay plan step-by-step. My aim is to build understanding and confidence by tailoring lessons to each student’s needs, making sure they not only know the material but also develop the skills to use it effectively.
By the end of our sessions, students will have more than just subject knowledge — they’ll have stronger critical thinking, clearer communication skills, and the confidence to succeed in class and beyond.
