About Farhaan

I have accumulated over 2,000 hours of tutoring experience, working with students from both top independent schools and the state sector, achieving excellent outcomes across a diverse range of needs. My experience spans from highly driven students with ambitious goals to those who initially struggle with or dislike education.

I am familiar in the syllabuses of all major exam boards, including Edexcel, AQA, WJEC, and OCR. My A-Level Maths students have gone on to study at prestigious Russell Group Universities, with recent students achieving A grades at A-Level and A* at GCSEs. One of my most notable successes involved a student who improved from C/D grades to an A at A-Level.

Beyond GCSEs and A-Levels, I have tutored primary school Maths at KS1 and KS2, and provided preparation for BMAT and UCAT university entrance exams and interview support for those aiming to study medicine and dentistry at top UK universities.

One unique approach I bring, after working with three tutoring firms and through private tutoring, is to build a friendly and supportive relationship with my students. With around 2,000 hours of tutoring experience, I've learned that working as a team, rather than taking the traditional "superior tutor" role, makes a huge difference.

I don't just focus on squeezing out one hour of work that the student might not enjoy. Instead, I try to inspire them to be curious and motivated, even outside of our lessons. It’s not just about what we cover in the hour together—it's about creating a mindset that makes them want to learn more on their own. I’ve worked with many students who weren’t initially keen on studying, and by showing them a new way to approach education, I've helped them see its value and importance.

My goal is to make learning enjoyable and to encourage a lasting drive to explore and grow.

To explain simply, here are the core elements I focus on during my lessons after 5 years of experience:

- Initial Assessment: I begin by evaluating each student's strengths and weaknesses to create a tailored learning plan

- Future Goals and Career Guidance: I discuss career aspirations with students and aim to connect them with professionals in their desired field for future advice and guidance

- Structured Topic Breakdown: Lessons are carefully organised to target weaker areas, while reinforcing strong topics to build familiarity and confidence

- Visual Aids and Diagrams: I use visual tools to enhance understanding and improve material retention

- Solid Foundation Building: Emphasis is placed on mastering the basics before progressing to more advanced topics

- Student-Led Learning: I collaborate with students to prioritise topics, allowing them to have a say in the lesson structure

-Resource and Material Allocation: I provide access to curated resources, including practice materials, textbooks, and online tools to support learning

- Regular Feedback: I provide ongoing feedback to both students and parents, including assessments and progress reflections, to track improvement over time
