About Dr Jake
I am a Machine Learning and Optimisation Engineer with a PhD in Computer Science.
My areas of expertise include Algorithms and Analysis, Operations Research, and Machine Learning, in both C++ and Python.
Outside of work I have a loving wife and son and I love anything sports related. As is typical of people in Computer Science, I also enjoy a variety of games such as Settlers of Catan :)

I believe in a bottom up approach to tutoring, trying to simplify the concepts as much as possible. In my experience, those who are the most expert in their subject areas are those who are able to explain content in a simple and easy to understand way. The best way is through worked examples, from which the underlying theory can be more easily understood.
Generally my lessons are 1-2 hours and I make sure to spend significant time on lesson preparation to make sure the lessons are effective and efficient. I am currently focusing on Undergraduate level courses, particularly in the Computer Science area as this is where I have the most experience.
