About Roxanne
I have experience teaching in a classroom and online during corona virus proceedings. I am specialised in early years/ key stage 1 but have excellent subject knowledge of the maths curriculum up to key stage 3. I am particularly skilled at developing maths mastery through careful progression.

Maths is a subject that can lead to anxiety and low self confidence. I aim to show pupils that they can overcome this and achieve well, by showing them the patterns and logic that leads to understanding. I move progressively from experience (using objects), to unpicking the language needed, to pictorial representation and finally more abstract thinking. An example of this would be using dienes to explain hundreds, tens and ones; leading to understanding the term place value; to using tables to partition numbers and finally apply their understanding by solving problems with three digit numbers.
