I work to engage pupils interest by showing how how mathematics knowledge can be applied to solve real-world problems. I start by assessing pupil's understanding of and ability to apply the mathematical topics being covered and then use a variety of approaches to correct misconceptions, develop a deeper understanding, allowing them to apply this to new scenarios. Finally, I provide copious opportunities to practice on exam style questions.
I have ten years experience of teaching and tutoring mathematics to pupils in key stages 3-5 and adult learners (for example on higher education access courses). I have taught classes and one-to-one for all ability ranges and have worked with pupils on the autistic spectrum.
The fee quoted is for Key Stage 3, GCSE, IGCSE and Adult Learner (to that level). AS/A-level and Adult Learner (to that level) fees are £35/h. My fees include travel to you. If you come to me I offer a £5.00 per session discount.
Whilst I am happy to do one hour sessions for Key Stage 3, I have found that 1.5, 2 or even 3 hour sessions work best for GCSE, AS/A-level pupils and Adult Learners. I offer a £5 per session discount for 2 or 3 hour sessions.
The free first session will be an approximately 30 minute meeting to get to know each other, discus the pupil's needs and plan a way forward.
Over the Summer (1st July - 7th September), I am willing to negotiate additional discounts as it is my slow season.
