About Kalie
I am a reliable and proven History Teacher with over 10 years classroom and online teaching experience. I have a track record of supporting students to achieve excellent results - be that securing a pass grade or reaching for the stars and achieving 7+.
I have been a specialist GCSE Examiner for AQA since the current exam specification was launched in 2016 and have examined across both papers.
My KS3 lessons are varied and inspiring, building knowledge, skills and creativity. In school my approach led to a rise in GCSE uptake for History. I am confident teaching the KS3 National Curriculum and incorporate relevant Humanities and Art links into all lesson sequences.
I hold Enhanced DBS, Level 3 Safeguarding and QTS with a Secondary History PGCE from the University of Exeter, a Masters in Maritime Archaeology from the University of Southampton and 2.1 BA(Hons) from the University of East Anglia. British, American, Australasian and European History are all areas of interest with particular emphasis on social history, the First and Second World Wars, the American West and the impact of European empire building on indigenous cultures.
Sharing a passion for History and exploring areas of interest and curious lines of enquiry is what I love to do and consider it a privilege to help turn this enthusiasm into excellent exam results and a lifelong love of the past.

Lessons employ a wide range of strategies and I am responsive and flexible in adapting learning to suit individual needs. Simple scaffolding; clarity of explanation; creative methods of recording; live modelling; sensitive differentiation and imaginative ways of bringing the past to life can be found in every lesson. I actively embed knowledge recall into all episodes of learning and make maximum use of the insight gained from my experience as a specialist AQA GCSE examiner to provide students with a clear understanding of the best way to articulate and present their historical knowledge on the page.
I am confident teaching the KS3 National Curriculum and incorporate relevant Humanities and Art links into all lesson sequences. Lessons offered on established KS3 themes and topics and happy to discuss more personalised topic requirements.
AQA GCSE specialist topics include 'America 1840-1895: Expansion and Consolidation'; 'Germany 1890-1945: Democracy and Dictatorship'; 'Conflict and Tension: The Interwar Years, 1918-1939', 'Britain: Health and the People: c1000 to the present day' and 'Restoration England, 1660-1685'.
