My teaching method is to build up understanding from a basic level, linking ideas and topics to daily life and making them accessible. I prefer working with you to solve problems than telling you how to do things and I believe that science is something that can be understood and enjoyed by anyone.
I am an Astronomer who is also a qualified Physics teacher. I have taught science at KS3 and Physics at both GCSE and A Level/IB. I have taught both in the UK and Switzerland and am proud to have achieved excellent GCSE results last year.
Due to the levels of preparation required for each lesson, A Level (or equivalent) students will run at a higher rate of £15 per hour.
Any lesson cancelled within 24 hours will be charged at the full rate.
Eleanor Jones
I am a driven individual who enjoys working to deliver challenging objectives and thrives in situation which need a task to be delivered in tight timescales with high quality. I have developed excellent stakeholder skills and I find it very easy to work with people at all levels. I enjoy working with teams and I am self-motivated but I am equally comfortable working in isolation if the situation demands. I am good at seeing what needs to be done and will prioritise work appropriately to make sure the assignment is delivered in the best possible time. I see potential pitfalls or challenges with an assignment, and work out ways to minimise or remove them. I am a fast learner, find it easy to work as part of a team, happy with responsibility and have often been asked to lead on complex tasks. I enjoy a busy environment and travelling.
Professional Experience
Teacher of Science and Physics - Monmouth Comprehensive School (September 17 - Present)
Upon transition to the new KS4 Physics scheme of work, I produced a syllabus, workbooks, exams, PowerPoints and additional teaching materials from scratch in order for the department to deliver high quality teaching to Year 11. Additionally, worked alongside the department, students, parents and governing body to reach allocated targets regarding achievement at all levels. These combined led to 74% of students achieving one A*-C grade in science (28% of which was free school meals students). This is some of the best Science results seen by the school in recent years.

Hobbies and Interests:
I have a strong interest in outdoor sports and I take every opportunity to go kayaking and canoeing, sailing, hiking, camping or power boating. I spent a week in Alaska in 2012 glacier trekking and sea kayaking with six members of my 6th form, where we organised everything including accommodation, transport and activities. I was a member of the Sea Cadet Corps for seven years and still volunteer as a civilian instructor when in Dartford. Alongside work I also partake in public outreach events such as Astrofest, BBC Sky at Night and observing events for the local community.
