  • When did you first develop a passion for music and your favorite instrument?

Ever since I was a child, I found myself drawn to the captivating sounds of music. My passion for music blossomed when I began piano lessons at the age of six. The piano quickly became my favorite instrument due to its versatility and expressive capabilities. I was mesmerized by the way it could convey emotions and tell stories through its melodies and harmonies.
  • Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

One artist whose music I never tire of is Ludovico Einaudi. His contemporary classical compositions are both soothing and thought-provoking, making them perfect for long hours of practice or relaxation. I also enjoy listening to various classical composers such as Chopin, Debussy, and Rachmaninoff, whose timeless works continue to inspire me.
  • What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

Let’s be clear, I claim to be no “Superprof”. I just know that I have spent my whole like playing the piano and I love helping my students as much as I can!

The internet is full of many many talented piano teachers, who are doing amazing work with their students. However, I feel that there are some musical topics that remain untalked about because of how challenging it might be to talk about them, topics such as ear training, improvisation and music theory.

Through this class, I help students in developing these essential skills of ear training, improvisation/composition and music theory. I also help them discover their own unique voice through composition. I love music and I love teaching it!

Yes, we'll learn how to play your favourite songs/ pieces on the piano. We'll prepare for Trinity grades, if you like. But this class is especially for you, if you'd like to get truly educated in music by developing essential skills such as

    1) Learning songs by ear
    2) Composing your own music
    3) Improvising on the spot!

I have a unique approach of teaching piano through Music Theory. This not only results in a good practical understanding but also helps the student understand the in's and out's of how music works.
  • What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

In my opinion, the violin is one of the most complex instruments to master. Its technical demands require precision, dexterity, and an acute ear for intonation. The physical coordination required to produce a beautiful tone while navigating the instrument's fingerboard and bowing techniques is incredibly challenging. Additionally, mastering vibrato, shifting, and bow control takes years of dedicated practice and unwavering commitment.
  • What are your keys to success?

My keys to success as a music teacher are patience, passion, and perseverance. Patience allows me to tailor my teaching approach to each student's individual needs and learning pace. Passion fuels my dedication to sharing the joy of music and inspiring my students to reach their full potential. Perseverance reminds me to never give up on my students, even when faced with challenges or setbacks. By instilling these values in my teaching philosophy, I empower my students to overcome obstacles and achieve their goals.
  • Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

If I had the opportunity to meet three musicians in my favorite bar, I would choose Johann Sebastian Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Sergei Rachmaninoff. Bach's profound musical genius and innovative compositions have had a lasting impact on countless generations of musicians. Beethoven's revolutionary spirit and uncompromising vision continue to inspire me to push boundaries and challenge conventions. Rachmaninoff's unparalleled gift for melody and emotional depth resonate deeply with me, and I would love to pick his brain about his creative process over a drink or two.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.

During my days at music school, I had the privilege of studying under a renowned piano teacher who had a profound impact on my musical journey. One valuable lesson he taught me was the importance of patience and persistence in mastering difficult passages. He encouraged me to break down challenging pieces into smaller, manageable sections and to practice them diligently until they became second nature. His guidance not only improved my technical skills but also instilled in me a sense of discipline and determination that has served me well throughout my musical career.
  • Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.

One of the most challenging yet rewarding courses I offer is advanced music theory and composition. In this course, students delve deep into the intricate world of harmony, counterpoint, form, and analysis. Through a combination of lectures, exercises, and creative assignments, students sharpen their analytical skills while honing their ability to compose original music. It's a thrilling journey of exploration and self-discovery that pushes students to reach new heights in their musical abilities
