As a recent high school graduate and incoming medical student at the University of Glasgow, I am excited to continue my journey in education and help others along the way. With prior experience as a tutee, I understand the value that tutoring can bring to a student's life. During my high school career, I participated in various extracurricular activities, such as organizing school events and leading a sports team to victory, which helped me develop valuable skills in teamwork, organization, and communication. I believe that each student has their own unique way of learning, and therefore, I always tailor my tutorial sessions to meet the individual needs and goals of each student. My approach heavily focuses on past paper examination questions, and I provide step-by-step guidance on how to answer each question. I also assign homework after each tutorial session, which the student should complete before the next tutorial. For topics that students struggle with, I offer short, informal lectures with the use of concise and helpful resources, such as PowerPoints and study guides. This approach provides a wide range of resources to ensure a thorough understanding of the subject. My main goal is to ensure that the student achieves their desired goals. Although my tutorial sessions follow a structured format, as described above, the atmosphere is always informal and relaxed. I believe that tense and stressful environments can be the biggest roadblocks to learning, and therefore, I strive to create a comfortable and welcoming environment for my students.
