About Jesse
I am an experienced jazz pianist, composer and teacher with a strong desire to encourage interest in and playing of jazz - be it piano or any other instrument. Passionate about its history, and everything the music encapsulates I feel it’s the duty of musicians to reciprocate everything the music has given to them and expose particularly to young students how fulfilling playing it can be.
Having graduated from Trinity Laban conservatoire in '21 with a First Class Honours in jazz performance, I am now expanding my teaching portfolio. I’ve been teaching peripatetically for over 3 years, during which I have developed a personable and engaging teaching style. I'm enthusiastic about, and thoroughly enjoy teaching and feel this is reflected in my lessons. My teaching style has been shaped both by inspiring teachers I have had, and by being exposed to different teaching environments - including studying at the Conservatoire National Superior in Paris in 2019. I was taught by some of the greats of modern jazz there, including Aaron Parks and Ricardo Del Fra - exposing me to their differing teaching methods. I have since assimilated these into my personal style of teaching.
I also travelled extensively as a young adult, including 2 months around Europe at 18 and 4 months around South America at 19. This experience shaped my interpersonal skills and informed my development/approach as a young adult – which intern has had a positive impact on my teaching.

Experience
2018 – Present Piano Teacher |
- Piano lessons are very much attuned to personality of student, lessons are fun and stimulating with a strong focus on feeling over textbook approach. 7-year-old student achieved grade 1 piano (with merit) within 6 months of learning through a focused, structured work schedule. Lessons range from 30 mins to 1 hour.
2018 – 2019 Drum Teacher |
- Playing drums as my second instrument at Trinity, I gained experience as a teacher in 2018. I adopt a similar style to my piano lessons and can teach drums to an intermediate level.
2017 – Present Professional Jazz Musician |
- I’ve been a gigging musician for nearly four years now, playing at venues such as Vortex Jazz club, Electric Brixton, La Villette (in Paris). I’ve hosted various residencies in London, including weekly gigs at Martello Hall, and Spiritual Bar, as well as doing gigs around England with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra.
- I’ve also shared the stage with the likes of Cosmo Pyke and Rachel Cohen. My experience in gigging has not only increased my confidence as a teacher but has given me an understanding of what constitutes a captivating, confident performance. This is another skill I hope to pass on to my students.

- In 2018 I produced and performed at an event of live jazz and delicious food entitled ‘GastroJazz’ which provided me with valuable experience in event organisation and man management.
