About Chris

I have a music teaching practice built on 20 years of experience, performing at events up and down the country and touring internationally. I love to work with students to find out what's holding them back from playing the music they want to play, and working with them to get there! I can teach saxophone technique - from the basics up to advanced techniques - and music theory, covering a wide range of genres (including pop, classical, funk, jazz etc). We can also look at grades (classical or jazz) if this is of interest to you. My other areas of interest include composition, music production and even use of effects pedals with sax!

About the lesson

I am a live performer and music teacher based in Leatherhead, offering saxophone tuition to students of all ages and levels. My approach is to tailor lessons to teach you what you need to know to play the music you want to play!

Chris is an extrememly knowledgable and experienced saxophonist and guitarist. As a teacher he's very friendly and patient. He doesnt make you feel overwhelmed and works at your pace whilst still moving our progress forward. Lessons are always well structured and most importantly, FUN! I like the diversity of saxophone music we cover, from rock to pop to ska, and even some jazz! Finding Chris has really motivated my practice at home and he has even encouraged me to play with others in a local band, Sax Bandits!

I’ve worked and performed with Chris in a variety of musical contexts. We met on a hotel residency in Mexico and have since played in multiple ensembles since then - jazz duos to eight-piece funk bands.

Aside from being a great and knowledgable sax player, Chris is very patient and empathetic making him well suited to teaching. Combined with this, his versatility allows him to play anything from jazz and funk to metal and classical.

I would highly recommend Chris as a teacher and player!
