About Jean-Christophe
I'm an illustrator for book covers and interior art. Sci-fi and fantasy have always been my passion so that's what I focus on in my work. I also take on private commissions, mainly for portrait paintings. Although I sometimes use Photoshop for some projects, I will generally paint traditionally with oils if given the choice.

Speaking from my own experience, I am convinced that we learn to draw and paint through imitation and repetition, along with good explanations. Explanations alone are not enough. The teacher must show concretely how to apply the concepts he or she is trying to communicate. I go back and forth between demonstration and explanation, each time asking for the student to apply what I'm teaching. Then I will go over and assess the student's work with him/her. By pointing out issues and thinking together about how to resolve them, the student can improve his/her process and learn how out to look at his/her work more objectively.
