I am a college graduate with a B.A. in Secondary English Education who is passionate about helping students embrace learning through literature and writing. I use a student-centered approach that emphasizes critical thinking, discussion, and meaningful engagement with texts. Rather than giving answers, I guide students through higher-order thinking questions that encourage analysis, reflection, and independent problem-solving. I adapt my instruction to each student’s learning style and academic needs, helping them build confidence and clarity in their thinking.
A typical tutoring session begins with reviewing current assignments or areas of difficulty. From there, I break down concepts into manageable steps and model strategies such as close reading, annotating, outlining, or planning written responses. Students then practice applying these strategies with guidance and feedback. Each session ends with a brief reflection or next-step goal to reinforce learning and promote independence.
My lessons are ideal for middle school and high school students, including those enrolled in English Language Arts courses, literature studies, or writing-intensive classes. I support students with reading comprehension, literary analysis, essay writing, grammar, and test preparation. Sessions are tailored to individual needs, whether a student needs skill reinforcement, enrichment, or confidence-building support.
