About Isobel
My name is Isobel, I'm a digital freelance artist from New Zealand. I'm 33 years old and have been drawing since I was a child. I've always had a colourful imagination with an innate desire to express my ideas through storytelling and illustration.
I recognise the personal journey of each aspiring artist, and the value of supporting their individuality.
Whether your ambitions for learning to draw are casual or professional, I'm here to assist you in your journey of self-discovery. My lesson plans are flexible and will be catered to your specific needs, which include; focusing on your chosen subjects and performing each task at a comfortable pace.
Art is an ongoing learning process, I look forward to learning from each other!

Lessons may include exploration of the following subjects:
Art fundamentals, perspective, composition, anatomy, colour, form, lighting and value. Design, style, environments, character, creature, objects, storyboarding, comics, preproduction, and more.
EXPERIENCE
I am an intuitive, digital artist with 15+ years of freelance experience in drawing and storytelling.
Among a number of professional contracts in the creative industry, I produced an online webcomic of 300 pages and developed concept art for an indie video game. I have an online platform of 50k followers on Instagram and continue to reach an audience while developing personal projects involving animation and comic book illustration.
With no prior teaching experience, I hope to gain such experience while assisting young artists with a mutual passion for art and storytelling.
LESSON PLAN
My priority is to understand your personal goals as an aspiring artist and how I can help you pursue those goals, whether casual or professional. What are you hoping to gain from each lesson? First session will involve a thorough conversation that will help me get to know you and form a lesson plan.
I will cater each lesson to suit your specific needs, covering a topic you're most interested in learning about, and at what pace you’re most comfortable with.
During each lesson I'll offer feedback and advice on how to improve your work, and what we can focus on together. I may give you a drawing task or you can send me existing art you'd like me to critique (this is at your preference.)
Because I'm an intuitive artist, my teaching methodology will be flexible, with a focus on the specific needs of each student and their respective learning style.
PERSONAL GOALS
I have a natural interest in helping young artists. I take the journey of each developing artist very seriously, and I recognise their individuality. Through this website I hope to gain professional teaching experience, as well as develop confidence in my own teaching ability.
As is the nature of being an artist, we never stop learning. I look forward to having the opportunity to learn from each other.
