- Classes
Each student attends normally for one session per week for one hour and 20 minutes.
In some cases, 2 lessons per week can be offered if deemed necessary.
Students will typically spend 20 minutes with the tutor discussing the lesson plan and setting goals followed by written and computer based lessons in a specific area. The final 20 minutes is again spent with the tutor to reinforce what has been learned and discuss goals for the next lesson. This is not set in stone and exam students may follow a different programme based on their individual needs.

'Getting ready for school':- 4 years old
KS1 Maths, English, Reading, Spelling programme and SAT'S practice :- 5 to 7 years old
KS2 Maths, English, Reading, Spelling programme and SAT'S practice :- 8- 11 years old
11+ Specialists:- we prepare children for all the Grammar schools such as BGS /BRGS /MGS/ Trafford / Bolton.
GCSE Maths, English and Science :- 11-16 year old are given everything from exam skill to exam technique and practice papers.
A-LEVEL:- Maths and English :- 16-18 year old
Adult English classes :- such as ESOL AND IELTS.

- Tuition Fees
Standard tuition fees for 80 minutes are £25. Please note that our lessons are for one hour and 20 minutes as opposed to other tutors who normally charge per hour when comparing fees.

I am Shazia Tahir and I am the owner and principal teacher at the Kip McGrath Tuition Centre in Bury, Lancashire. I am a fully qualified teacher with over 12 years' teaching experience in local schools. The centre was established in Bury in 1998 and has helped hundreds of local students who need extra tuition in maths or English.
Until 2011 I was working as a Primary teacher in quite a challenging school. I love to teach but always wished that I could spend more individual teaching time with every student to encourage them to reach their full academic potential. About the same time, my son was having difficulties with maths and, although I am a teacher, I felt he could benefit from extra tuition in an environment outside the home – he only sees me as mum!

Every student who comes to Kip McGrath Bury is fully assessed educationally and this can take from 30 minutes to an hour depending on the age and level of the student. This assessment is FREE and without obligation. Our findings will be discussed in full with parents and a lesson plan outlined.
Discounts are available for siblings attending tuition and we also offer a FREE lesson to those who pay for 10 lessons in advance.
We are also Ofsted Registered and can accept childcare vouchers. This may help some parents reduce the cost of their tuition by up to 70 %.
