My lessons with Vocalists focus on developing skills and building confidence through specific exercises and refining vocal techniques that promote stronger, more flexible voices for enhanced stamina and resilience in their singing.

My approach blends training with creativity, and fosters fast results which enable singers to thrive within any music style from contemporary Rock, Pop and Soul to Classical Legit. All ages welcome and lessons tailored to budget from 30 mins to 1 Hour, weekly or fortnightly.

I possess a Master's Degree in Voice Pedagogy and have much experience as a lead vocalist for several bands. I also teach music as a lecturer and vocal tuition at University.

I am the author of The Complete Vocalist, and recently produced an App for my Vocal Arts Academy teaching that is available worldwide. This facilitates online teaching, lesson booking and makes my resources more accessible to vocalists.

Find out more about Lee

  • When did you start practicing? How did this passion find you?

I became obsessed with music in my early teens and found a passion for singing. I formed a band aged sixteen with school friends and started singing with all of the classics from my father's vinyl collection as I also began to teach myself guitar. I began by imitating the great voices I was hearing on those records to discover what I can do and began to find my own voice.
  • Which artists or works affect you the most?

At first it was Elvis Presley, Sam Cooke and The Beatles, also contemporary singers at the time like Steve Winwood, Peter Gabriel and Paul Young. I was inspired by Prince, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and this developed into a passion for Soul music and artists like Otis Redding and James Brown as well as more contemporary Rock and Soul singers.
  • What are the qualities and skill required to succeed in this area?

A strong sense of breath support and a habitual engagement of the diaphragm and supporting muscles, followed by a confident delivery of tone which can be achieved with specific vocal exercises to develop strength and flexibility through the bridges or transitions. Negotiating these bridges successfully enables a singer great freedom. Mastering the various voice qualities and developing greater range can then be achieved.
  • What is the most valuable advice you can give to help someone stay focused on creative projects?

Persistence, persistence, persistence. Remember your WHY and get fueled by that determination and you will succeed.
  • How would you describe your passion; how does it make you feel?

Creative, alive, and ready to make something happen. Maybe something extraordinary.
  • What creative achievements are you particularly proud of?

I achieved a Masters degree in Voice Pedagogy and I've successfully fronted several bands as lead vocalist. We always had gigs. I've enjoyed coaching several signed artists in the music industry, and many others who tell me I helped make a positive change in their lives. I authored a book for singers, 'The Complete Vocalist,' produced a Vocal Arts Academy singing app and I continue to author books, paint, and sing in a fantastic Soul band.
  • Have you ever been surprised by a student; by their ability or quick progression?

Yes. It's magical when a student can take guidance and rapidly make use of these vocal exercises and techniques. As with any skill though, there are levels and much more can still be developed and achieved with persistence. The long game is the best game of all, and mindful persistence in reaching for perfection is an art in itself. I never get tired of witnessing this progression, whether in small steps or great leaps.
  • Being a Superprof is an art! What is your secret?

I love working with singers and I thrive in the vocal studio (whether in person or online lessons), because I love helping singers become the best they can be.
