About Jessie
My name is Jess and I'm a qualified SkateboardGB coach living in Brighton and Hove. With over 7 years of experience within sports coaching, you can be re-assured that each lesson will be delivered in a safe, fun and supportive environment. I currently teach skateboarding at the BYC Skatepark where we offer 6-week block courses for children and adults. I have recently been accepted as the Head Skate Coach for Brighton and Hove City Council. I like to think that my approach to coaching is both fun yet effective; my ambition is to encourage students to get out of their comfort zone!

• 1 Hour Lessons
• DBS/Safeguarding/First Aid Trained
• BA Hons in Youth Work (1st Class)
• Over 6 years experience within sports coaching
• BYC Skate Coach/Head Coach for BHCC
• Approach: Offering the basics from standing on a skateboard for the first time, to learning the 3 steps of an Ollie. I take a relaxed approach but understand the importance of delivering an organised, safe and effective lesson structure.
Main points of focus:
1: Pushing/stoppng
2: Foot/Body Position
3: Lean Turn
4: Kick Turn
5: Pancake Flips/Hippie Jumps
5: Transition
6: Pumping
7. Dropping in
7: Ollies
8: Skatepark Etiquette
These 8 basic steps will be taught in depth; giving each student the opportunity to learn key techniques to be able skate confidently in any skatepark. These main points of focus are a baseline for a 6-week course. I understand the importance of being both flexible and adaptable within coaching as each student will have different needs/experience.
