About Ava
I am a social care professional with a strong interest in supporting others to learn, grow, and succeed in their studies. I want to teach because I understand how challenging social work and health and social care courses can feel, especially when balancing theory, placements, and personal responsibilities. My motivation comes from wanting to make learning clearer, more accessible, and confidence-building for students. I enjoy helping learners understand complex topics, apply theory to real practice, and recognise their own strengths, so they feel supported and capable as they progress toward their professional goals.

My tutoring approach is student-centred, supportive, and structured, with a strong focus on helping learners build confidence, critical thinking skills, and academic independence. I am able to cover theory, legislation, and policy, critical reflection, assignment-focused support and strength-based learning. Lessons typically last 60 minutes, though 90-minute sessions are optional. The length of sessions can be adapted depending on the student’s concentration, learning needs, and goals. I have academic and practice-based experience within social work and health and social care, including: •Experience supporting students at Level 3–6 •Strong knowledge of UK social work legislation, policy, and frameworks •Practical experience within mental health, older adults’ services, safeguarding, and community care •Experience supporting students with academic writing, reflective practice, and critical analysis My background allows me to bridge the gap between theory and real-world practice, helping students understand not just what the theory is, but how to apply it effectively. My lessons are for: •Health & Social Care students (Level 3) •Social Work students (Levels 4, 5, and 6) •College, university, and access course students •Learners who may feel overwhelmed, lack confidence, or need structured academic support • Learners aged 16+, including mature students, and adapt my teaching style to suit different abilities, neurodiversity, and learning preferences.
