Reflective practice is imperative in my method of teaching and it is ingrained in every aspect of social work practice.
I like to find out how the student learns most effectively, as I understand that every student learns differently and exploring this concept will further their successes. Having a personalised approach to learning aims to build an instant rapport between the student and the tutor.
I gained a 2:1 in Social Work in 2014. I have frontline experience of working in mental health and drug and alcohol services, as well as case managing women who are engaged within the probation service. During my current employment at the local women's centre, I have educated a 2nd year MA student who successfully passed her practice placement.
I also have extensive life experience of supporting vulnerable people as my mother has Bi Polar Disorder and is a recovering alcoholic. This meant as a child I was fostered when my mother was admitted to a psychiatric ward, thus have an 'Expert by Experience' take on some contemporary social work issues.
