About Madeline
I am currently a student at the University of Michigan, where I study Education and Social Transformation with a minor in History. I will be graduating in May and will then be attending Loyola University Chicago to pursue graduate studies in school psychology. My academic background has given me a strong understanding of how students learn and how to support them in developing both skills and confidence in the classroom.
I also have experience working directly with students in educational settings. I have worked with elementary, middle school, and high school students through tutoring and classroom placements, which has helped me learn how to meet students where they are and adjust my approach depending on their needs. These experiences have strengthened my ability to explain concepts clearly, support students through challenges, and create a positive learning environment.
I take tutoring seriously and aim to be both patient and encouraging in my work with students. I understand that reading and writing can sometimes feel frustrating, especially for younger learners, and my goal is to help students feel more comfortable and confident while improving their skills. I want students to leave each session feeling more capable and prepared for their work in school.

My approach as a tutor focuses on helping students build both skills and confidence in reading and writing. Many students struggle in these areas not because they are incapable, but because classrooms move quickly and it can be difficult to ask questions or receive individualized support. I aim to create a calm and supportive environment where students feel comfortable slowing down, asking questions, and working through challenges step by step. Building confidence is just as important to me as building academic skills.
During tutoring sessions, I begin by identifying what the student is currently working on in school and where they may be feeling stuck. From there, we focus on targeted skills depending on their needs. This may include guided reading practice, strengthening reading comprehension, building vocabulary, or working on writing assignments. When supporting writing, I help students organize their ideas, develop clearer sentences, and build stronger paragraphs.
My tutoring is best suited for elementary and middle school students who need extra support with reading, writing, and general literacy skills. I can also help students with homework, essay organization, and test preparation. My goal is not only to help students complete assignments, but also to help them feel more confident and prepared in the classroom.
