About Benjamin
I've been tutoring for around four years now. I was initially solicited by my AP Computer Science Principles teacher in my junior year of high school, to tutor specific students in need of extra help outside the classroom. I worked with anywhere from 1 - 3 students at a time, delving deep into their understanding of certain concepts and finding, then fixing, the flaws in their knowledge. Later on, I continued private tutoring throughout college for high school students with a variety of focuses. I have only ever stopped tutoring a student because they understood the content of the class sufficiently to the point where they no longer needed me, not because they would fail.

Regardless of subject, I teach through examples and practice. My general process (which is modified to suit the needs of each, unique student is) to first explain the concept in terms I would understand. Then, I go through an example problem myself, explaining my steps and thought process as I methodically solve said problem. While going through the problem, I ask the student if they have any questions, and ask once more at the end of the problem. Then, I make sure the student can solve the same problem, then different ones of a similar nature, and once I can see that they got it 3 - 5 times in a row (depending on how difficult the concept is), we move on. My extensive experience and struggles with academia when I was younger set me apart from other tutors, usually just older kids who don't care or can't relate to those who struggle with certain concepts. My lessons can be for anyone, ideally in STEM subjects, English, or history, doing an undergrad or below (K - 12) level study of said subject.
