i excelled in math and english at pella community high school and entered drake university, des moines, ia, with intentions of majoring in actuarial science. however i found my main interests to be psychology and religion and switched my major to psychology my sophomore year. i graduated drake in 1975 with a b.s. in psychology and minors in religion and sociology. i married shortly after graduating and my wife had obtained a special ed. teaching position in west union, ia. i tried finding employment relating to my studies, but soon found that a masters degree was necessary to procur that line of work. in the meantime while looking for employment till i decided what school to attend to get my masters, i was hired on with the chicago & northwestern as a brakeman and later became a locomotive engineer. that was fine with me as i had a childhood dream of becoming an engineer. i worked for the railroad for 14 yrs, then went in to various sales and sales management jobs and later was a tutor for educational resources association in west des moines. i loved working with students and was promoted to assistant manager within a year. i'm retired and disabled and would love helping students progress in their studies again. also, my hours are very flexible. i have always enjoyed working with students- i strive to make learning enjoyable while also meeting their objectives. i am friendly, easy going and enjoy the challanges of educational development in our young people and adults also. i will do my best in meeting whatever goals my students have.
