I am a fully qualified UK English teacher, from a Russell group university. Currently I teach at a comprehensive school and teach students from yr7-yr12(11-16yrs of age). I have a number of EAL/ SEN learners and constantly find myself differentiating tasks for them. I have taught top set yr11 classes and have a proven track record of 100% pass rates and excellent grades. December 2015- July 21st 2016 Ayesha Community School (University placement/Teaching Assistant)
My roles and responsibility included: Doing 1-1 sessions with students with EAL and underachieving students. Running reading sessions and book clubs, as well as after school homework sessions, and taking part in open evenings. Shadowing teachers in class, and helping around in the classroom. Attending CPD sessions on how to deal and manage behaviour in the classroom. As well as being trained on how to use appropriate restoratives.
September 2016- September 2017 – Sarah Bonnell Secondary School (Teaching Assistant)
Key responsibilities included: Running intervention classes for students who are underachieving or borderline. Working closely with students on a 1-1 basis as well as running after school homework sessions. Responsibilities also include taking groups of students out of lesson and doing reading sessions. Attending CPD sessions and taking part in parent’s evenings, open days and other activities.
Sir George Monoux Sixth Form – September – Currently (Placement year/ teacher training)
Currently teaching GCSE English and AS English Literature and English Language, as well as AS English Language. Currently going though January mock exam preparations with students, take part in curriculum workshops, 1-1 tutorial time, CPD training sessions, department meetings and parents evening. Currently teaching my AS English lit&lang class Seamus Heaney’s poetry, my Language class we are looking at language change and language and social class, and previous to exam preparation my GCSE class I was teaching them creative and narrative writing.
