I usually teach starting with one hand at a time, then adding in the chords. It really helps to play at your own pace with both hands until you are confident enough to put in a rhythm. I am patient and encouraging to beginners but will not talk down as I understand how frustrating making mistakes can be in music.
I have taught piano and flute for the past year and have seen my students progress very well and have fun in their lessons and am keen to provide lessons over the summer period. These would last from June until September while I am away from University.
I am an avid lover of music and during my own education I learned to play multiple genres of music including Jazz, pop and rock.
I helped to teach my younger siblings in keyboard and while at high school, as I was so far ahead with my music lessons than the rest of my class I helped them to get ahead also if they too were doing their exam in keyboard. I have also been tutoring for the past year and have loved to watch my students' skills grow every week and for them to be happy in each lesson.
I began Keyboard lessons at age 9 and was quickly seen to be a fast learner and somewhat a natural at music, I picked up the skill very quickly and after 6 years I was at a grade 8 level practically, although unfortunately the teacher I was with did not put me through any exams. After my teacher retired I started up lessons with a local piano teacher and passed my Grade 3 in Piano and in High School Managed to achieve a Grade 5 in Flute so I learned the theory skills for that grade.
I achieved an A in both Music and Art at high school so I have a very creative and musical mind, and would love to pass on my passion for learning.
