I teach the fundamentals of music with a focused approach on underlying harmony of the three chord types, simplifying complex theory and giving you knowledge which you can put to use in your lead and rhythm playing right away. You will be armed with all the knowledge you need to start improvising melodically over backing tracks or with a band and begin to find your own voice. I teach a practical approach to memorising the fretboard, scales, and demystify 'modes' all based around the triads (3 note arpeggios) giving you knowledge that will stand you in great stead for the rest of your life. You will learn how to build speed on techniques such as shredding, sweep picking and tapping, the underlying arpeggio harmony found within scales beginner - advanced (Major/minor, Harmonic/Melodic minor, Diminished and Whole tone) and learn chord synonyms - the basis for all chord substitutions and harmony. A typical lesson is 45 minutes with given homework exercises to be undertaken in your own time. I have an HND in Modern Music from Edinburgh College. My lessons are for anyone of any level who has a sincere interest and passion to learn and/or improve.

Perfect! Had to reschedule the first lesson last minute Richard was easy and accommodating
Perfect! Richard tailored my first lesson around a song I was practicing. He managed to make the lesson very interesting and fun. I can not wait for a second lesson and I would recommend Richard to any potential students.

Richard has taught me a lot over the years and is a great teacher. I like lots of styles and he has helped me learn a lot about Rock, Classical and Jazz guitar. Rick is extremely skilled in both Fingerstyle and Plectrum Technique and has a great depth of musical knowledge. It's always great fun learning with Rick and I highly recommend him as a guitar tutor. 5 Stars from me!
