About Yashdev
Hi! I'm a passionate and friendly music teacher who believes that every student has the ability to succeed with the right support, encouragement, and teaching approach.
One of the most rewarding parts of teaching is seeing students grow in confidence and develop skills they never thought they could achieve. Whether you're preparing for exams, learning an instrument, developing your musicianship, or simply learning for enjoyment, I tailor every lesson to suit your individual goals and learning style.
I also encourage independence whenever students are ready for it. My aim is not only to help you succeed in our lessons but to give you the confidence and strategies to continue learning effectively on your own. Developing resilient, independent learners is something I value highly.
As a teacher with ADHD and a speech and language disorder, I understand first-hand that everyone learns differently. This has shaped me into a patient, empathetic, and adaptable teacher who is committed to creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and celebrating their progress. I firmly believe that learning should be accessible to everyone and that, with the right guidance and encouragement, every student can thrive.
My lessons are engaging, structured, and enjoyable, combining practical music-making with clear explanations to help students build lasting understanding and confidence. Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to take your musical skills to the next level, I'd love to help you achieve your goals and discover the joy of making music.

My teaching methodology uses a variety of teaching methods including Lucy Green's popular music strategies and the Kodály Methodology.
Lessons usually are an hour or half an hour for younger students.
I have taught privately successfully getting students through grade 1, 2 and 3 at quite young ages.
During my PGCE, placements at Langley Grammar and St Bernard's gave me experience teaching Edexcel and Eduqas GCSE Music curricula. I have also taught Music Tech to A level standard through extra-curricular activities and private teaching, as well as teaching BTEC Level 3 Music Tech in a classroom. I encouraged a high level of independence, especially with the older students, providing supportive guidance whilst ensuring they develop skills that help them in their careers. In my time at Trevelyan Middle School, I created a scheme of work based on Kodály principles, ensuring secure establishment of pitch and rhythm.
As a tutor, I use these principles regularly.
